Yesterday's Father's Day blog highlighted Dad's favorite portraits from the year...some featured him...some featured those he loves. This blog is to spotlight my top 20 favorite Dad moments from the year!
Happy Father's day to all the fathers in our lives who sacrifice sleep, ESPN games, nights out with the guys, fishing trips, their two seaters, their motorcycles, their hair & blood pressure from worry....because they are investing in the next generation who call them Daddy/Dadda/Dad. Enjoy clicking through Dad's favorite portraits from this past year...some feature him, some feature those he loves most in life! Tomorrow I'll post my favorite 25 Father's Day picks!
JDP senior model Abbey's flexibility is one of the things that sets her apart as a dancer. Part of that is a natural gift, but it is certainly reinforced with a lifestyle of dance and stretching. If Abbey's not dancing, she's stretching! Rock on girl--you are an inspiration in so many ways!!
Rachel debated about whether she should have newborn portraits created to welcome their little girl. Unfortunately, sadly her first newborn session was never delivered from her photographer. There's no record of the portraits she hoped and waited for. Crushing on so many levels.
Fast forward a year and a half and the Smiths are expecting a baby girl. At the last minute (in her delivery room) Rachel landed on the side of 'yes' to newborn portraits. I knew what had happened to her in the past so my studio manager moved appointments around so we could fit in the Smith family last minute. I assured Rachel there would be a beautiful story of how her family has grown and how 20 month old Henry would be incorporated to tell that story.
So here is the treasure of the Smith family that will adorn their homes and bring smiles to their faces for many, many years to come!
Creating mother/child portraits is always my favorite time in a newborn portrait session. What a treasure these will be to Rachel and Brian...and eventually to Evelyn! Welcome dear one...you are loved beyond measure and prayed over mightily! Flourish under that mantel of love all the days of your life!
I know what you are thinking--she looks like a firefighter I know! Talk about a girl who breaks the mold! Karly is a firefighter, an EMT and a cheerleader. Now that's a combination you certainly don't hear everyday!
Karly's eyes are on the prize for all she wants to accomplish in her life. She has already been a part of reviving several overdose victims in our county. She's stood in the gap between life and death for so many people already--that's pretty amazing for a high school kid! She has also recently graduated with her next level of firefighting...so she can enter homes on fire! This is one brave girl who runs to the disaster when everyone else is running away.
Karly was the winner of the senior portrait session and package we were gifting to a senior who gives back to her community. She was selected from all the entries we received because of her hard work ethic and her rescue service in the community. A client of mine, anonymously gifted 250 to be put towards any of our "Giving Back" corner causes we contribute to and share about in our monthly newsletter. This client wanted me to contribute wherever I felt led and shared how much she enjoys reading the newsletter every month. I decided to keep the giving going and gift a senior girl with a portrait package. I asked for nominations from the community!
A client anonymously gifted 250 to be put towards any of our "Giving Back" corner causes. (We share about the causes we support in our monthly newsletter.) This client told me she looks forward to enjoying the newsletter every with a glass of wine and wanted to be a part of our philanthropic vision. I decided to keep the giving going and gift a senior girl with a portrait package. I asked for nominations, for a girl who wouldn't have a chance for senior portraits otherwise.
What made this whole thing even sweeter was that the nomination came from one of our current JDP senior models--Kasey Barnes! Kasey's nomination was the only one we received from another high school senior. How cool that Kasey wanted her friend to share in the experience she had for her senior portraits! Kasey said, "there's no experience like having Jennifer DiDio create your senior portaits!" Kasey even came to assist on Karly's session!
Such a great time with these girls!! Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you, cheer you on and lift you up through this life...that's a lesson these young women learned early!
I'll cheer you on...I'll support you...I'm here if you fall...and I'll laugh with you...this is friendship!
