Laura had seen and admired friends Couture portrait sessions for long enough! It was time for her turn and she was ready to "Unveil her Cinderella". Well, as ready as a working mom with a family can ever be!
Laura planned her Couture session to surprise her husband Brian for his birthday. Across the board, the reaction of the husbands to these Couture sessions has been pretty amazing. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised that men love seeing gorgeous images of their wives! With a sense of pride and gratitude they enjoy pointing and saying, ‘that’s my beautiful wife! Isn’t she a work of art!’
Laura’s Couture session was two fold. She joined the growing number of women who are bringing out their much loved wedding dresses to create beautiful portraits in a Glam the Dress time, minus the stress and rush of the wedding day. Laura will be married 12 years this summer and was ecstatic to celebrate the dress she spent so much time choosing 12 years ago. Isn’t it a shame that these dresses sit in boxes for years on end….
Laura had also wanted to create some sweeping outdoor portraits. But, she put on her registration form that she hated cold weather. And I dream of the day when my husband and I can move south to warmer temperatures. Although the day was bitter cold, Laura told me she still wanted to go outside for her Couture session!
I told her, ‘well if you are crazy enough to go outside in March then I’ll be crazy enough to photograph you out there!’ Blog followers know I’ve photographed in the ocean, in ponds, in snow, in rain and in whipping bitter March winds! No pain, no gain!
So we ventured outside for Laura’s Couture Couture time with the dress we designed onto her during the session. I set up with my assistant Hayley as the March winds whipped around and sent bone chilling cold through our bones.
Laura stepped outside when it
was time and said, ‘What was I thinking???!!!’
There was no turning back
now! I assured her we were ready to go
and we’d complete the outdoor shooting in 15 minutes, “trust me, it will be
worth it!” She’s so glad she did! Art from life! Sooooo worth it!
