JDP senior Morgan

Meet JDP senior Morgan and her beloved dairy cow FaLaLa.  Morgan is an incredible mix of equal parts farm girl/dancer/academian and humanitarian.  She attends Francis Scott Key High where she is very involved with the FFA (Future Farmers of America), including being the president her junior year.  She’s also involved with drama, Friend for Life and Sources of Strength.  The latter two clubs are focused on providing peer support for kids navigating the tough teen years.

Morgan’s been raised on an active dairy farm and is right at home caring for the herd.  She knows their names and their unique personalities.  The beautiful FaLaLa was featured in her portrait time, but there was supposed to be appearances from Poinsettia as well.  However, although she was freshly bathed for portraits, Poinsettia decided to roll in poo right beforehand and was forced to miss it.  Poinsettia let us know her displeasure immediately by kicking up a ruckus that she was being left out!

Morgan started with 4-H when she was 8 years old and tried dairy judging there.  She’s always loved showing dairy cows and has been doing so since she was old enough to lead them around the show ring at just 4 years old!   She found herself right at home in the show ring and never turned back.  She studied what it was about cows that made them winners and what was missing in her cows that didn’t place.  This meticulous approach led her to be asked to consider judging dairy cows as a team member with others.  She’s had the privilege of representing Maryland 4H as part of teams in 2019 and 2021.  She enjoys that immensely as well and is highly sought after in that role in the dairy community.  She’d like to continue judging in her future.

Morgan has always been the kid who loved deconstructing things to see how they worked and then putting them back together to see if she could improve them.  Today she’s in the applied mechanical engineering program at Career Tech and has plans to continue engineering studies with a minor in dance in college.  Once she joined a model engineering club by accident not realizing it was a train club, but just drawn to all things engineering.

Studio mascot Macy Mae worms her way into sessions all the time and occasionally we catch these adorable moments that a client loves as well!  Makes since, given that Morgan’s dog sidled right up to me during her portrait time on the farm!

Morgan is an avid dancer as well and it has taken the lion’s share of the love in her heart.  If you can’t find her, likely she’s at Carroll County Dance Center where she is 6 days a week taking classes.  She’s been in productions since she was little, including the Nutcracker every year.  She even works at the studio to help lessen the burden of her tuition.  This girl is the last one to shy away from hard work!

Morgan started dancing at 6 and has never stopped.  She loves pouring her passionate love of dance into fluid motion that tells a story through motion and moves the viewer into tears of joy and amazement.   The strength on display in ballet is pure artistry to her.  She primarily dances modern and ballet and jazz, but regardless of the type of dance,  she’s not done until the viewer has been moved emotionally.  She’s not done her performance until she has poured everything from herself and emptied it onto the stage for her audience’s delight.

While dance has her heart, Poinsetta and FaLaLa are a close second!  Poinsetta’s antics may have caused her to miss her time for the beautiful romantically styled portraits, but her kicking up a ruckus meant we couldn’t completely ignore her.  So she had a guest starring role at the end!

Mom had hoped for this view of Morgan walking down their farm lane to close out her session.  She hopes it will always take her back to the little girl who led big cows around show rings with such finesse as she’s preparing to watch Morgan launch into this next stage of life that won’t be on the farm.   We wish you all the best Morgan!  Shine dear one because you make this world so much brighter when you do!
