Senior photos mark the beginning of the ginormous transition awaiting young men and women preparing to break from the cocoon of childhood to emerge into adulthood. This is a transition that moms have 17 years to prepare for, but seems to sneak up on them in a way that leaves them feeling unprepared and wistful for the little boys and girls who seem to have grown up all the sudden.
Marking the end of ‘childhood’ certainly creates a mixed bag of emotions for moms. It was obvious to me that this Mother was not quite ready for that transition to begin. I have a feeling if she could hold time in place for a while she might just take that offer. She beamed with pride as she watched her only son throughout the session. It’s obvious how Chris pulls at his mom’s heart strings in a way that will make this next year of transition one that will require a lot of Kleenex!
Overfilled soccer fields led Chris to karate. He found his passion and committed to the training and discipline necessary to earn the acclaimed black belt! Today Chris shares his love of martial arts as an assistant instructor at Choe’s Karate.
Chris was eager to show off his acrobatic martial arts skills. Who knew his senior portrait session would be such a work out!
Mom and Dad had every intention of buying one white collie puppy 3 years ago. There were two left in the litter and one chose Chris and one chose his sister, even after leaving the room and trying to mix the dogs up. Two puppies found a new home that day! Sprite chose Chris that day and has been by his side ever since.
Super cool!
Chris had an idea he wanted to run by me—‘can I do a rolling flip over top of you while you photograph me?’ Took me back to 30 years ago when my brother used to point out pictures of similar tricks and made similar requests! Difference is Chris had the training and practice so I was game!
Dad was a real trooper and took a beating as Chris demonstrated his skills multiple times with Dad’s assistance! Dad’s pride shone obviously on his face as he joked with his son throughout the session. How cool to see a teen aged boy getting along so well with his dad.
Best wishes Chris—the world awaits you!
Wow! Jennifer, you took some fabulous photographs here! I must say, I am so proud of all my nephew Christopher has become! I have teared up as I scrolled through these photos because I think of the tiny baby I first met so many years ago! I am so happy for my brother and sister-in-law (Steve and Joyce) because I know that they must be bursting with pride for Christopher! Congratulations on these works of art you've created-really stunning! Also, congratulations to the almost senior-Chris! and to his mom and dad too!
