i hope you dance

Baby K’s activity in utero has inspired visions for Mom of them dancing hand in hand celebrating the goodness God has poured into their lives.  She’s eager to wrap this long awaited baby girl in her arms and sing and play lullabyes over her. 

Julie’s transition into motherhood promises to be a very natural one as it seems being a mother has just been written into her DNA .  She exudes kindness and gentleness in a way that just makes everyone who knows her fortunate to call her friend.   This baby girl will be growing up with a mom who knows how to value what’s most important in life and then hold that very close to her heart.  What an incredible blessing!

I can just see three pairs of cowboy boots, mom, dad and baby all kicking up some dirt while they laugh, play and celebrate life!

Julie wears her heart on her sleeve and is deeply moved by life.   This approach to life wraps itself around her musical ability to create music that reaches down deep inside a person.  She pours her passion into the violin and piano.   During our session she played some Appalachian songs that were so hauntingly soul resonating I wanted to put my camera down and lie in the grass to listen and watch the clouds. 

I warned Julie to brace herself as I was sure to be singing along with anything she was playing that I knew the words to and she graciously never once grimaced or avoided well known tunes!  I love that I get to share in my clients’ gifts, even if just for a little while.  It’s often a little window into worlds I’ve never been exposed to and I love that!  I learn something new on every shoot—this one– that a violin bow alone can easily cost $1,000!

Can I just say Super Model Mom!!

Amazing Grace, It is Well and I Hope You Dance were my favorites.  Many times I’ve asked God for musical talent, back from the days I would record myself on those little tape recorders from the ‘70’s.  I would have chosen an Alicia Keys style of piano/vocal  for myself.  But, alas, God’s answer was a definite “NO” every time.  So, I live vicariously through the talents of others and soak in every second of the beauty they produce!    

Cannot wait to photograph Mom playing over baby K in  just a few weeks!   I think I may request a few more songs in advance!   We eagerly await your arrival Baby K! 

In my quest to create art from our daily lives, to show the beauty of our every day, I saw this.  When I saw this through my lens I had visions of Lladro’s statues, very softly formed of beautiful moments in life….so Julie, today you made me wish I could sing, play the violin and sculpt!
