horse love

Anyone who follows my FB biz page and C A P T U R E D blogs knows how much I’m inspired by the beauty of Carroll County.  It’s everywhere, but especially when you get off the main drag a bit.  So, recently driving home I passed these horses I see everyday.   The fields were just alive with buttercups.  I have admired Van Gogh’s work tremendously for years and know how inspired he was by the fields of sunflowers in France.  Thousands of miles away, and over 100 years later, yellow flowers still inspire artists everywhere.

I pulled over to watch and photograph the horses.  I was intrigued by their behavior.  They were very curious about me and they all stopped to watch me from way across the field as soon as I approached.   Then slowly but surely they made their way over.  There definately appeared to be a pecking order in place as to who went first to sniff out the stranger standing by their pasture.

Then upon one horses’s signal, they all started parading around the pasture in a gentle trot, as if to display their majesty.  Then, they returned to me at the fence, as if waiting for my nodd of approval.  They came closer this time almost to touching point.  Yes the fence is electric I found out!

It appeared there was a bit of quiet curiosity and admiration from both sides of the fence for several minutes.  Then, without warning they all broke away at full speed.  The coolest part is you can see one horse crashing into the other as they did so.

So, for all you horse lovers out there, enjoy this storybook feel to my interperation of horses in Carroll County.  My only regret is on line viewing is not the best way to view these images, but they give you tiny taste!
