Lovers of ballet came out to support Alena in her pursuit of a dance dream. Kristen and Sean, her parents, worked tirelessly along with the Carroll County Dance Center to organize a gala fundraiser to help send her to ABT (American Ballet Theatre) this summer. This will be a major step in her goal of making ballet her profession. Somehow Kristen and Sean managed to do this while both working several jobs, raising 4 kids, down a car that was in the shop and a broken laptop! Their love for their daughter fueled them and now we pray for rest for them!
The event had trays of delicious treats circling the room where the silent auction happened. Crowds filled the room to bid on donated items that would raise money for Alena’s trip. Enough money was raised to send Alena to NY and her family is celebrating that and can not express their thanks enough for all the support the community has shown them. They were brought to tears by the overwhelming support they received. When its for a girl like Alena, so full of warmth, grace and kindness, it’s easy!
Friends performed musical pieces, teachers spoke of the incredible impact Alena makes wherever she goes and a phenomenal work ethic. Little girls who idolize Alena sat in the very front on the floor admiring the dancer they hope to become….and they certainly couldn’t have a better role model! Alena danced 6 dances, closing with a Samba accompanied by Roman Mykyta. Below you will see a record of beauty in motion from the gala…enjoy and reach for the stars Alena!!
