Harrisons

I am pretty vocal about speaking the praises of women who keep our cherished portrait traditions alive generation to generation.  Most of us know how precious it is to sit with those we love and recollect over the journey of our life through the photos that tell the stories our minds are so quick to forget.  It’s typically women who lead the charge to keep recording our lives for posterity sake as a priority in our families.

However, every once in a while it’s a guy who comes along and wants to create a surprise to honor his much loved bride.  He wants to let his bride know that although children, home and careers can often deplete resources at the end of day, his love for her is more fervent than when he first said ‘I do’ almost 18 years ago.  He wants a tangible demonstration of love that he knows will be a cherished keepsake.

Jon is one of those guys.  He booked a surprise family portrait session for Jen.  He wanted to give her the gift of portraits that have always meant so much to her, but without any of the stress of preparation.  We talked about the best way for him to prepare for the session.  He did decide to tell her the morning of the session, which was a good thing. Then the day of the session arrived and it was snowing pretty hard.  Jen was undaunted though, she told me she has an SUV so they’d be fine.   She’s an RN so driving in bad weather is just normal life for her.

The Harrisons braved the elements and came out to celebrate the life and love they have shared over the last almost two decades together.  Yes, we created traditional family portraits, but then we moved outside the box into something a little more creative to help them always remember this special day.  We closed with this epic kiss that I think needs to be on the cover of something beautiful!  It was such a pleasure to partner with you in this surprise and celebrate your family’s love!
