Cru 18 months

Cru joined me in studio to mark his 18 month portraits…and the baby who I’ve been photographing the year prior is gradually giving way to a toddler boy full of curiosity and comical expressions.

His lashes still go on for miles and he’s still quick with a smile…so I asked myself, what has changed about him to show the little boy he’s becoming and his babyhood slipping away?  Then I remembered it from my own boys…it’s when the hair tames itself and gets combed over…that’s when they begin to look like little boys and less like the babies we’ve cuddled over the last year and a half…

Cru’s next two portraits harkened to his still babyhood…the baby belly and chubby cheeks.  I saw it as soon as I was shooting and knew these would be precious glimpses into his fleeting babyhood…maybe I’m just a little sappy because I’m acutely aware how all 3 of my boys are not fitting into me like they always have for hugs…they are nearly as tall as I am so the fits just not the same…

So hold on to babyhood as long as it will stay because if life teaches us nothing else, it’s that time stops for no one and these moments are fleeting…happy 18 months little Smile Machine! 😉
