JDP senior Macy

JDP senior Macy’s been dancing almost her whole life.  She’s spent 15 years at Project C studios exploring just about every dance offering available.  When dance is in you, it just has to take expression–and I couldn’t be happier as a creative!

Macy’s taken hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet and pointe.  She’s a dancer at heart and it was a delight to create portraits of her graceful movement!  Girls who have danced their whole lives have been photographed ad nauseum and are often weary of assembly line produced dance portraits.  This is where I step in–I have not greater joy than creating custom dance portraits!

I love to see the excitement the dancers have when they see themselves as a work of art.  It takes time to create like this so the very best of each dancer is captured for them to enjoy forever.  I wouldn’t have it any other way!  How cool to know these will forever be enjoyed in her custom album and wall art!

The grace and discipline that was trained into Macy over the last 15 years will be a blessing to her throughout her entire life.  She’s a member of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts and can I just say that I love that such an organization exists for these young dancers!  I love that we recognize excellence in the arts for young men and women.

When I think of creating with dancers like Macy, one of the things that excites me most is their desire to engage in the creative process.  When Macy came for her pre-consult meeting, she walked into the styling center and fell in love with this dress on display.  She knew without a doubt she wanted to include it in her senior portraits.  So, it’s a bit early, but we created this very editorial feel winter scene above for her!  Looks like she should be a perfume ad in Vogue!

Macy and her mom were inspired by our vintage red couch as well.  So Gina colored Macy’s pointe shoes to match!  We wrapped up outdoors and Macy shone there just as beautifully!  Macy is one of our newest additions to the JDP senior model program–so look for more of this cool girl in the year ahead!
