JDP senior Adam

JDP senior Adam was such a joy to capture in his senior portraits.  You’d never know he is affectionately called G&T (Grumpy & Tired) by his motorcycle club members.  He’s a still waters run deep kind of kid.  When you take the time to see below the surface, you’ll find a very thoughtful young man who is quick to take care of business without the need of a spotlight on himself.

Adam earned his Eagle Scout his freshman year of high school.  His project involved designing and constructing an outdoor pavilion you see featured in his portraits.  It’s at the picturesque Carroll County Farm Museum.  There were 504 Eagle Scout projects the year he completed his and Adam’s was nominated as one of the top 10!  He’s following in his dad’s footsteps in his Eagle Scout project and his little brother Zach tells him he’s hot on his heels with plans to finish his own in record time.  Mom Heather’s going to have to build extra time in the family outing schedule to see all these construction projects by her boys!

Adam is most happy outdoors fishing, shooting, hiking, battling in paintball wars, hanging with his Shepherd Chewbacca, being with his family and watching hockey.  They are all huge Caps fans so it’s been a good year for him.  If you go back to Adam’s birth, you’ll learn that after a 30 hour labor Heather was told she needed a c-section and she told the medical team they could wait for another 1 1/2 minutes until the Caps game was over so she could watch the end!  Then Adam attended his first game as a 2-week old baby!

I loved how Adam just rolled with every vision I had for his portraits.  He had ideas as well and he wasn’t thrown off at all by my crazy all over the place approach to portrait production.  Sometimes I tell clients, “buckle up buttercup, it’s gonna be a wild ride.”  The portrait above organically evolved out of the set ups we were creating and I just love the iconic nature of it.

Adam’s a good old country boy who was excited to know he could include his truck in his session.  Adam plans to be an electrician and is receiving his training at the Career Tech and has already begun working in that field.  Sensing the importance of family to him, I wasn’t surprised to learn that this is also following in his grandfather’s footsteps.

Sometimes I’m hit by an impression during portrait creation, other times it happens when I sit down in post production.  Well, I could not stop seeing a young Robin Williams in Adam above.  Something tells me you won’t be able to unsee it now that you have likely seen it as well!

Adam, none of us imagined how naturally you’d roll with portrait creation!  Your parents shared with me how many people still comment to them as they marvel over the family portraits we created 5 years ago that adorn your home.  Now it’s time for you to be featured front and center on those family walls as you prepare to spread your wings to fly in this next stage of life!  May these portraits always take you back and we look forward to you being one of our newest JDP senior models in the year ahead!  And just in case you wonder how quickly times goes…here’s a little flashback!
