JDP senior Susan

Blog followers who love the unexpected must be loving the JDP seniors we’ve featured recently!  If you are looking for your own senior portrait creations, click here to contact us!  I have been blessed by the presence of fellow artists who have come to have me create for them, painters, musicians, sketchers, sculptors…they just keep coming in all their glory!  Crazy how it always happens in waves!  The athletes come in waves, then the artists!  And I love them all!  I guess what I love most is when people are passionate about doing the thing they love–that resonates deeply with me.  Susan is one of the recent JDP senior artists and what a joy it was to create for her!

What makes creating for artists so amazing?  They are game for anything and abhor only what places them inside boxes that are much to small to contain all their ideas and musings.  They desire the intensity in their portraits that finds me in my creative sweet spot.

Susan’s Aunt Lisa saw my contribution to an auction she was attending and immediately knew what she wanted to gift Susan for graduation.  She’s the fun Aunt Lisa who has made special memories with all the nieces and nephews in the family. Oh, if everyone had a fun Aunt Lisa in their life, how cool would that be!!  Watching her celebrate Susan at the View and Choose was pretty priceless as well!

One of the sweetest elements in creating for Susan was also watching the relationship between her and her mom Terri.  Her mom celebrates all the coolness that is Susan and has never required her to stay inside boxes that could not contain her.  Instead her moms joins her at Comic-con and helps her get her outfits ready.  She encourages Susan to embrace all that makes her beautifully unique–few better gifts we could give our children!

I mean come on–Susan’s got a Starry Night skirt!!!  How awesome is that!  Her sense of gothic fashion is just plain interesting, not morbid, it just had layers of cool about it!  Susan loves steam punk fashion as well.  She enjoys transporting to other times in history via her fashion.  Watching her pull pieces together from our studio offerings was pretty cool.  Costuming is definitely a gift she has! We’ve invited Susan into our JDP senior model program so look for this little artist for future creative endeavors!
