Silver Cinderella Connie

I am regularly in awe of the people who cross my path for portraits.  If you are fortunate enough to do life with Connie, then you’ll join me in celebrating her upcoming milestone 70th birthday!  She is an absolute hoot who will keep you in stitches for story time about life!  She embodies a fun energy about her that is contagious!  She exudes the kind of confidence that speaks of the Lord’s work in her life, making her a vessel to do His will and bring all the willing along for the ride with her while she does so.  She is confident in her gifts and unapologetic in her celebration of every day.  She gives no one the right to steal her joy-those are words to live by!  Interested in your own custom portrait time?  Click here to contact us!

Connie marked her 40th with a portrait time as well and now her 70th with me.  As we looked over her 40th creations, I saw her sense of fun and adventure in all its 80’s glory!  This time Connie decided she wanted to surprise her daughter Chris by sharing the time with her. Connie knows how busy Chris is with the stresses of raising three boys and career and college classes and wanted this day to be a break from the demands of daily life, while sharing in the joy she knew awaited them both.

Oh…the memories these two will now share and the joy that will well up every time they sit and luxuriate over this collection!  I just love that Connie has the assurance that when the people she loves most in life going looking for portraits of her…they will find this treasure in her album and on her walls!

Connie may have be turning 70 but there’s no signs she’s slowing down!  She’s very active in her church, being involved in drama and singing in the choir.  She has traveled all over, sharing her love of music and even had the privilege of singing with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. She’s marching into her silver years with a pep in her step and a smile on her face!  She’s aware how hip injuries quickly turn devastating for people over 70 so she practices getting up off the floor without using her hands or arms, as though she had injured her arm, wrist or shoulder.  Can I say how much I love that!?!

Lest you think her smile is there because she hasn’t experienced the loss that seems to creep into everyone’s life by the time they are 70, know that’s not the case.  Sadly, Connie lost her first husband to a motorcycle accident after years of helping him manage brittle diabetes and a stroke.  Connie’s encouragement though, is that after that great sadness lifted, she found love after 60 on line of all places. She is remarried today and sharing this adventure called life again with a man she loves.

What an awesome role model Connie has been for her daughter Chris as she navigates her own life!  She first hands sees a mother who embraces life and takes it head on with confidence knowing the Lord will be her guide every step of the way.  Connie’s own mother is in her late 90’s today and was even still driving at 92!  The family had to take her license when she tapped a police car backing out of her driveway and didn’t realize it.  They explained, “Mom you hit a police car.”  Mom’s response?  “No I didn’t. Well if I did, that’s because I was late for church!”  This is the same mother who on her 95th birthday went for a ride on the back of her son’s Harley and roots for her belovedbRedskins!

Rock on Connie!  You were a treasure to get to know and I’ll carry your life lessons with me as I grow into a woman hopefully as full of grace and love as you one day! Interested in your own custom portrait time?  Click here to contact us!
