JDP seniors Emmie and Sammie

Being a twin is a complicated dynamic.  Full of built in blessing and full of complicated dynamics that most will never fully understand.  There’s a persistent push pull to life that tends to define many twins.  Inwardly wars rage between clinging to your first and most important friend since birth and then pulling away to secure your own unlinked individual identity.

From my experience, the schedule for launching out to establish independence does not match up in twins very often.  One is often ready before the other which is often heartbreaking for a mom to watch…

While I met with Sammie and Emmie in their preconsult I kept grinning at how much their relationship as twins reminded me of my twin sons.  They were self professed yin and yangs.  Sammie is a hugger, Emmie likes her space.  If one picked black, the other picked white.  Their dynamic together was precious and sweet.  Their mom has been anticipating these portraits of her sweet girls for years. For all their differences, the similarities are also more than evident.  They are both kind and caring who are clearly looking out for one another through this life.  Both girls love lacrosse, are fierce competitors who thrive in competition and and are a force to be reckoned with in the midfield.  Colleges are beginning to scout them as they are debating on whether to play in college.

They both love to laugh at each other’s antics.  Their mom was looking forward to their portrait creation as much as they were.  She’s been waiting several years to get this coverage of her sweet girls and now she’s elated.  Click here to contact us re your own custom portraits!

The girls brought their beloved American Bullies Tucker and Trooper and mayhem ensued.  The girls apologized for the chaos and I assured them this is all part of the process to which I am very accustomed.  Nothing beats a wet nose for softening a heart every time!;)

Sammie and Emmie attend FSK and thrive in the competition on the lacrosse team.

Emmie began playing softball for the first time this season.  Lo and behold, she’s a force as a hitter.  Kudos for trying something new at this later stage of highschool and finding a new passion when taking that risk! Click here to contact us re your own custom portraits!

Girls, you were a blast!  I know your senior year is not shaping up as you’ve imagined all these years, but your future looks very bright none the less!  Enjoy your highschool lasts that await you!  As you navigate the push pull twin dynamic as young adults I’m pretty sure you’ll find an awesome rhythm to life with each other that keeps you bound and cheering one another on throughout all of life!  Click here to contact us re your own custom portraits!
