JDP senior Ani

JDP senior Ani is a kind soul wrapped in silliness and surprise.  Both her parents work with students with learning disabilities so it’s likely that’s been a big influencer on the unique blend that has combined to make the sweetness that is Ani.

Ani shared her love of the outdoors and nature and came at the perfect time of year to capture all the best that MD has to offer for the end of the wildflower season and the bursting forth of the yellows of fall.

I collected an assortment of leaves for Ani’s session figuring we’d incorporate her love of nature indoors as well!

Ani brought along a hat that had belonged to her grandfather and was special to her mom.  I adore connecting the generations via sentimental items that speak volumes to the one who loves these people.  Our portraits should be a launch pad for our stories to be told and now this will point to her grandad in ways that will warm her mom’s heart.

Ani is a member of the ski club at Westminster High and loves taking to the slopes which I am guessing she does so with a ferocity that delights and scares her a bit!

She’s also a member of the field hockey team where she’s made the memories that will define her high school years.  Her best friendships have been born with this group of girls who she’s largely been together with since first grade.  Ani plays defense and is a sweeper.  She loves her team and this camraderie helped to lead the girls to a state championship last year!

Ani is also a lover of cupcakes which her mom has been baking her her whole life.  These delicious delights made an appearance at her session and they brought enough to share!  Mom was pressed for time leading into Ani’s session, so she picked them up from one of their favorite bakers, Stonehouse Bakery and Cafe in Taneytown.  Oh my word…trust me they are worth the drive to Taneytown!

Ani’s mom mentioned she was hoping to see Ani’s playful side in some of the portraits…enter her pogo stick!  I mean, just an ordinary day wearing a sparkly dress and chucks pogo sticking through our lower level studio!;)

No portrait time is complete for my JDP seniors without a fine art segment for creation.  And oh Ani’s curls were such a delightful addition to her styling!

Taking a portrait back in time like this makes me feel like I am creating alongside one of the masters…

The bursting of colors at the end of summer and beginning of fall is my favorite time of year for our outdoor segments.  It’s also our busiest, for obvious reasons.  Every year we can accept and accommodate about 25 JDP seniors and to date there are about 15 already on our class of 2022 wait list!  The wait list seniors get preference in session dates and a guarantee that we will hold a spot held for them.

With her commitments to academics and sports, Ani still finds time to work at Bowman’s Feed through the year.  She’s hoping to attend college next fall and has her eyes cast towards University of Maine or Penn State.
