Meet fitness enthusiast Tim who is a popular figure in the local extreme sports world! Working with athletes and fitness enthusiasts is always a joy for me as a creative because all the energy they pour into their sport/fitness records so beautifully. Most often clients know me for recording this for high school seniors, but when Tim reached out I was intrigued. Tim is 64 and has made fitness a life long goal and even been a competitive body builder.
One of Tim’s guiding principles for life may inspire you as well: “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw. Clearly he has made a conscious decision to keep playing all the days of his life. He knows the joy that comes from setting goals and then blowing them out of the water.
Tim noticed that with the onset of COVID and the world shutting down he didn’t have a goal to work towards to keep his fitness regimen in a place that made him happy. No competitions, no races, no Iron Man’s…he was at a bit of a loss and watching fitness gains slip away. A friend suggested he set a goal for himself, achieve it and then celebrate by marking it down for posterity.

Enter my portrait services for Tim. Local body builders may know Tim from the gym he owned, Other World Fitness which specialized in obstacle course fitness fun. Unfortunately, his gym has recently suffered the fate of several other gyms I know that did not survive with the Covid shut downs. He has been forced to close his doors, despite a loyal crowd who hoped he’d always remain.
While Tim is projecting what the next stage looks like, you can be sure it will include a continuing love of fitness. He thrives on pushing himself to achieve physically what would astound most men even in their 40s. To him 64 is nothing but a number that means it may take a little longer to accomplish the goals he sets for himself, smiling and laughing all the while!
