Welcome Emmi-Jo

The McGrew’s have added one more blessing to their family, which now makes 5 stories of life being written on a farm in Gettysburg full of cattle, dogs, children and love.  Emmi-Jo has one older sister, who you’ll see this upcoming year for senior portraits and 3 older brothers. They are all forming her #1 fan club/security squad!;)

One of Becky’s greatest joys is seeing how much each of the children love their new little sister, especially her rough and tumble sons.  She remarked, ‘who would have guessed these dirt bike riding young cattle men would be so gentle and in love with a tiny baby?’  She figured her oldest daughter Audrey would more naturally want to spend time with Emmi-Jo, but likely the boys would give quick run by kisses on the way out to do their farm chores. Instead, they all just love spending time with her and that overjoys Becky and Greg’s heart.  I said, ‘well, the boys have seen that in their dad and are following suit.’  They are learning that strength and gentleness are beautifully entwined in the best fathers.

As you can see Ms. Emmi-Jo was beautiful blue eyes wide awake for most of our time together.  She’s the little lady of 100 expressions already and something tells me her arsenal will grow and likely crack her family up perpetually!

So often new moms are full of trepidation and their weariness is almost palpable.  This has been magnified by current world situation.  However, Becky has welcomed new life 5x and was as cool as a cucumber, even in the midst of a pandemic.   Not just in the midst, but Covid went through their home and she was not immune.  The McGrew household had a flurry of chaotic events pass through their home and rather than rattle them, it has bonded them closer and taught them Who is in control.  Becky’s concern for Greg in his recovery was remarkable to behold.  She is truly clothed in grace and humility that is a blessing to all who are fortunate enough to cross paths with her.

The newborn phase passes so quickly, although I know it doesn’t feel that way at 3:00 a.m….so I just well up with tears when I consider what this will mean to Becky 30 years from now…What this will mean to Greg when he walks Emmi-Jo down the isle…it’ll feel as though they blinked and she’s a new mom herself…time is a double edged sword.

Always such an honor to preserve what the McGrew’s hold most dear in this life!  I know these portraits smiling back at them from their walls will remind them that in the midst of a storm, He is faithful to provide.  If our eyes are kept on Him who controls the seas, we will find peace!  Click here to contact us re your own custom portraits.
