DiDio boys

These three nuggets are where my passion to lock down life started.  I have recorded the good, the bad, the ugly and the in between since their start. I guess it’s the former history teacher in me.  Photographing my boys has been one of the most rewarding/frustrating experience for the last 19 years, pretty much in equal doses.  I have heard this sentiment echoed by just about every mother who is a photographer as well, so I know I’m in good company!

No matter what we were trying to lock down it always devolved into this…and that’s when I realized, this is exactly what I needed to be recording.  This is who they are and this is what I want to always remember about them.  These ultimately will bring smiles to my face all the days of my life.

Here’s 3 from the collection that stares back at me from my living room and has been making me smile for 7 years now…I discover something new all the time about my boys when I soak these in.

Realizing that Tad is in his first year of college, I knew my window was closing to be able to record my boys.  I suggested a recreation of this set up and they were on board.  I still see three little boys have grown into young men, trying to figure out their way in this life.  Of course we knew we were recreating this set up, but it wouldn’t have mattered.  It would have devolved into the exact same scenario regardless of what the original intent was.  Some things will never change and that’s a beautiful thing!  I look forward to cajoling them to do this again when they are all fathers one day…

Wyatt wore his hair like this for a hot second, reminding me how my husband had a beard for a hot second as well in his 20s and it’s preserved in a family portrait as well!

We closed with a more Vanity Fair style feel that they gave the thumbs up to!;)

So here’s to preserving all that makes us smile about our kids…even if it frustrates us to know end while its happening!  It will gain a preciousness that is priceless!  Click here to contact us re your own custom portraits.
