I know Sam came for the athletic portraits, but I couldn’t wait to see this stunning young woman in the outfits of her choice before my lens. She brought an enthusiasm and energy to her planning meeting that gave me a glimpse into the awesome we’d create. I could tell she’d transition so beautifully between timeless fine art, to modern editorial, to epically beautiful in a fairy tale feel in red. And she certainly did so!

Sam has played volleyball at South Carroll all 4 years. She’s in love with the bang bang fast pace of the game and her role as a hitter and strong arm.

Sam went to semi-finals with her volleyball and softball team last year. She’s prepared to lay herself out and do whatever it takes to make the play. You can be sure, when she takes to the field or the court, she means business!

Sam’s adorable puppy Lucky joined us for portraits and we realized Lucky could have a future in show business! She was the most agreeable pup–whatever we asked of her, she was game!

I know when Sam was envisioning what I could create for her, a timeless fine art piece was likely not on her mind at all…but what a vision she is!

Softball has provided Sam with amazing memories through the years. Her strong arm has been an incredible asset to every team she’s played on. She loves everything about the game and is eager to take on challenges.

Interesting that the memory that most stands out to her has nothing to do with championship games or her homerun to win regionals. Instead, it surrounds warming up for senior night. She had a ball hit to her and she threw it in over the back stop. It almost hit a team mate’s dad. It was a rainy day and slipped out of her hands, going further than she expected. She’s incredibly grateful that it was a miss but giggled telling me about it!

Sam also loves basketball, but playing competitive softball meant she had to choose a focus. It’s unfortunate how difficult it is for athletes to split their attentions between all the games they love.

And somehow amidst her serious approach to her classes and sports, Sam manages to fit in a job at a local restaurant.

Sam, you were a total delight to create for and brought the same passion you infuse into every aspect of your life to your portrait time. Your future looks so bright and I know your mom and dad are cheering you on every step of the way!
