JDP senior Anthony is one of those young men who brings a smile to the faces of everyone fortunate enough to do life with him. His sense of humor, warmth, creativity and kindness are just a few of the things everyone loves about him.
From my time spent with the family, it seems his parents have passed this on to him as they approach life in the same way. It also seems to have grown through the role Antony has played to help his family navigate his sister, former JDP senior Natalie’s, serious health crisis. Anthony’s dad donated one of his kidneys to Natalie last year when they realized she was in kidney failure. Anthony’s caring disposition and ability to make everyone laugh played its own key role in helping the family navigate this crisis.
Anthony attends Manchester Valley where he has excelled academically and played varsity tennis all 4 years although he didn’t even start playing till the 9th grade! He also plays for Baltimore Tennis Patrons via their club team. Anthony loves the game and feels it’s the hardest sport he’s ever played. Simultaneously, he also gets the most satisfaction from playing it and helping to lead his team. While his team has gone through some challenges, Anthony is a natural leader, encourager and cheerleader for his teammates.
Anthony has his eyes on college with the possibility of pursuing engineering or architecture. He’s been building things his whole life, from Legos as a little boy to computers as a teen.
Anthony’s dog Mickey joined his portrait time and was more than happy to ham it up for the lens!
And if James Bond had a dog…it should definitely be Mickey!
Anthony’s mom appreciates the comedic outlet Anthony provides for their family more than anyone. She looks at her young man and knows how much the family counts on him and he steps up in every way he is needed. He’s one of those rare teens that doesn’t need to be reminded to do his homework or practice his instruments…he just owns his responsibilities from A-Z.
While Anthony has a lot of interests, his very favorite pursuit is music. Anthony’s grandfather is a classically trained professional pianist who also taught at McDaniel till he recently retired. He has been Anthony’s music teacher throughout his life, starting at 5 years old.
Anthony’s grandad focused on sheet music which Anthony was not such a big fan of for a long time. However, as he has matured and branched out as a musician he is seeing the value in it more and more and has grown to love it.
Anthony started playing guitar 6 years ago and is embracing it in full force. Anthony’s musical interests will never be forced into a predictable box. He enjoys it all! From rock, jazz, acoustic, blues it all just came streaming through his playlist during his session and I loved it!
Anthony loves the freedom in making music. It’s easy to forget about the real world and marvel as sounds emerge from his fingertips. There’s nothing like the satisfaction that comes from creating something from nothing and he can’t get enough of it.
Anthony makes music on his pc and always thinking of new ways to create when it comes to music. I fell in love with this scene for him because it’s an artist at work. Just about every artist I know has ideas pouring out of them, usually into the wee hours of the night when everything around them is quiet.
I’m not sure but we may have been enjoying some Beatles during this set!
Anthony has also gotten into rap recently and even writes his own pieces. He’d like to grow this and who knows, possibly perform!
Anthony, you are a joy and a delight! Keep making music all the days of your life and bringing forth the music of laughter from all those in your path! Click here to contact us re your own custom portraits.
