The Gleaton Family

The Gleaton family was back in full force! Teresa trusts me to lock down what is most precious to her–her sweet and hilarious family. I met her 4 years ago, as she was preparing to meet her baby Jonah for maternity family portraits. Since then we have created JDP senior portraits for Adam and Aliyah and this summer is Noah’s turn. Spoiler alert–his fashion choices promise to be incredible!

Teresa’s whole family was able to be together, home on college breaks, this past holiday season and we managed to squeeze them in for portraits. I was cautious with expectations about a full family portrait with three babies in the mix and Teresa understood; but she knew the moments we would capture would be priceless to her.

Teresa and Oji both have demanding careers while they are raising their 6 kids. As you can imagine there’s a lot of logistics with a large family and they have whole heartedly embraced it with abundant love and laughter.

And can I give Teresa a giant shout out? There are so many behind the scenes moments for mothers, literally hundreds of hours spent nursing babies, changing diapers, braiding hair that are unrecorded in the annals of family photos. So it’s important to me to always grab a few behind the scenes moments that will take this mama back to these fleeting moments years from now.

And any mom who has prepared her family for portraits can appreciate the moment I am about to share. As the family poured in with bags of clothes, it wasn’t long before we realized that Oji and Adam were missing their shoes. There certainly have been plenty of times when clients have borrowed my boys shoes, but that was not going to work for Adam’s size 14 shoes! We broke the news to Teresa, knowing this is where most moms would lose it, and she 100% just rolled with it.

Later Teresa told me, ‘shoes?!? Who cares?! I got my 8 people to your studio all together–that’s what matters! I got portraits of all my people together!’

Her people are her life. She pours everything in to them and it’s so evident in how these 6 kids all care for one another. It’s so awesome to see is how the “bigs” I have affectionally labeled them, care so affectionately for the “littles”. They are patient and kind as they waited on their younger siblings to join the portrait time, never once losing patience with the antics of toddlers.

Adam, Aliyah and Noah have their own special bond. They crack each other up all day long with their own antics. Is 6 enough kids for the Gleaton family? If you ask Adam, he’d say no and is cheering on his mom to have another baby!

In the busyness of running a few businesses while having 3 more babies, Teresa realized she has not been able to lock down her youngest babies in portraits as she would have liked. So she was just so pleased to see these captures of her little dumplings!

I always hope to lock down the love between mom and dad during family portraits…this is why the family before you see before you exists. And how classic that baby Ariella charged in, with Bella behind her and Jonah on their heels to break up mom and dad!

In true Gleaton fashion, mom and dad laughed it off and rolled with it!

Baby Ariella was just as curious to explore the studio as her sister Bella was a few years ago!

Ariella may not have been interested to join in with Bella and Jonah, but those curls flying made up for it!

In the chaos of family portraits, it’s important to me to make sure the children are logging sweet memories during the time. So of course we ended with bubbles for the littles who could not have been more pleased!

Teresa, thank you for trusting me to lock down the preciousness of your treasures! May the Lord bless you all and keep you knit tightly together through this journey we call life! May love and laughter continue to flow freely all the days of your life!
