Meet JDP senior Chandler. She is a powerhouse blend of creativity and stellar work ethic bound to make her mark strikingly through this life.

Chandler is in the fashion design program at her school. She helps to manage a team of other students when they prep for big projects and fashion shows. She’s opened her basement to the group to work on their projects together. The buzz of a fleet of sewing machines, chaos of fabric flying and patterns rustling is where Chandler feels most at home.

Chandler’s favorite thing in the whole world is her sewing machine. It’s the conduit that her creativity pours through and energizes her. Most recently she produced pieces for a fashion show themed on sustainability.

Chandler fills a multitude of roles at her high school. She is the editor of her school newspaper and has been a part of Quiz Bowl (a Jeopardy like show similar to It’s Academic).

Chandler is also a part of a non profit club that is focusing on building tiny houses for those in need in the DMV and PA. She also leads her Black Student Union and Diversity office. She’s the rep for her 12th grade class and is responsible for planning Homecoming and Prom.

Chandler tries her hand at art in soo many forms. It was important to her that her artistic side showed up in her portrait collection.

Can’t you just see the future fashion designer here! Chandler’s work ethic is relentless. She’s not satisfied until whatever she’s working on has her stamp of excellence indelibly stamped in. Her plan is to attend college for Cognitive Science and Business blend or Neuroeconomics, all to facilitate her career in fashion.

Chandler’s recently branched out into learning guitar as well–rock and jazz are her faves.

The entrepreneurial spirit that characterizes Chandler first started showing up in the first grade when she ran a lottery. Her whole life her parents, who are also entrepreneurs, knew this girl was destined to own her own business.

Chandler’s also been playing volleyball since she was in middle school. She’s a libero, which is a back-row defensive specialist with incredible ball control.
