Collins family

Time stamps on our lives become critical when we realize just how fast the years are flying by. Many a wise soul has shared with me that when raising children, the days will often seem eternal, but the years will always fly. When I met the Collins family for portraits the first time, Eliana and Lincoln were just babies! Today Lincoln is 11 and Eliana is 13!

The interaction between Eliana and Lincoln was priceless. Lincoln adores his big sister and her adoration of him is cloaked under a thinly veiled big sister coolness that doesn’t take much to see it drop. These two cracked me up through the whole session!

Jason and Annette originally contacted me to lock down family portraits while we celebrated their 15 year wedding anniversary about 11 years ago. Jason told me he’d already made up his mind that they’d be coming back every 5 years to record their family journey. Unfortunately, I don’t still have the record of their first blog since we moved web hosts, but I do have the blog from 5 years ago!

So this collection represents the third installment of our every 5 year journey together. Eventually the Collins family plans to head out west to continue pursuing their love of skiing, snowboarding and outdoor adventure. So, 5 years from now becomes the real question. We do have quite a few clients who travel quite a distance to continue their traditions with JDP, but JDP may be going on the road more in the future as well!

This moment was priceless for Annette. She was overcome seeing this preciousness locked down during her view and choose. Just about any mom with middle schoolers will testify to the fact that full on exuberant embraces from your children do not come with the regularity they once did in elementary school. This is cruel reality that every mama faces while trying to keep a brave face.

I’ve often said that one of the sweetest sounds in life is the laughter of a baby…however, second to that is the laughter of a teenager. Most of us remember the turmoil of this tumultuous stage of life and the pressure cooker of finding your way. So, when real laughter erupts…it’s music!

25 years!!! What an accomplishment to celebrate!! Jason and Annette met in the Navy and their love story continues strong today! They laugh together and make a dynamic duo as parents!

Annette is known for her sense of humor. She’s most likely to whisper something to crack Jason up when he’s supposed to be stoic–and she loves the challenge of that!

The Collins family is all about their outdoor time. Whether it’s skiing, boarding, volleyball, hiking or flipping across a gym–they are in pursuit of their next adventure!
