JDP senior Haley has a vision for her future and she’s chasing it down. That dream started when she was just 3 years old and started cheerleading. She’s a tumbler and a flipper and it’s in her blood as her mom was a cheerleader as well.

Haley has been challenging herself throughout her years of training to complete her flips with straight legs, spinning mid air and even completing double flips!

One of Haley’s coaches saw something in her when she was just a tiny cheerleader. Tom first saw her when she was just 5 years old and he’s been coaching her ever since. He knew talent and dedication when he saw it!

Tom knew that at about 10 years old many tumblers will develop mental blocks and fears of tumbling. At 10 years old Haley was able to complete a full and a double! Haley never developed any blocks and has been flipping ever since!

Haley’s goal is to cheer for a school in the SEC or ACC. She’s specifically hopeful for Clemson, Auburn, Un. of Florida and Florida State. She can almost feel the energy those big football schools bring to their games and she is itching to be a part of that! Her academic goals are to become an anesthesiologist and she’s got the academic footing and drive to make that happen!

Haley’s parents brought a tumble track to our studio and set it up on the grounds where I got to see Haley in action. She was quite a sight to behold! We planned to create the tumbling portraits in the dark but didn’t think about the dew that would start to settle on the tumble track! We tried baby powder but, alas, we got just two tumbles in before we called it to avoid an injury.

Haley’s commitment to cheer has her in training 20 hours a week! Her training regime involves quite a bit of travel as well to her All Star practice 3x a week and her Hereford High practice daily. This 7a.m.-11pm schedule has helped to build a discipline in her that translates to her academics as well.

Haley is a perfectionist and she brings that desire to all she lays her hands to in life. She’s a STEM girl who revels in her Panera 4 hour study sessions with girlfriends all striving for excellence as well. Her desire for perfection combined with her strong ambition and desire to win makes her a force to be reckoned with when competition presents itself!

Always the photobomber–studio mascot Macy Mae just couldn’t stay away!

This ambitious pursuit of cheer excellence has had one significant injury for Haley. About a year and a half ago a fellow cheerleader fell in a stunt and her elbow plunged into Haley’s collar bone, breaking it. She was down for the count for 3 months before leaping back into the tumbling world!

This Datsun 280z holds a very special place in Haley’s family. It belonged to her grandfather and was restored by her grandfather and her dad as one of the last things they did together before his passing. It is one of Haley’s dad’s most precious possessions and will one day be passed on to Haley.
