We always start with a pre-consult planning meeting. This is an opportunity for me to get to know my clients, to vision cast and to help set aside the jitters that naturally come with portrait creation. I was surprised to learn that Kayley who is in 9th grade, actually followed her little sister into dance after she saw how much fun Carly was having.

Both these girls are serious about their dance commitment. They are in the studio 6 days a week! I’m so grateful they were able to carve out an evening to create portraits! Kayley has been dancing 3 years and takes classes in all styles: contemporary, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, and modern. After just 3 years and she’s rocking those pointe shoes like a pro!

Carly’s in 5th grade and loves performing! She’s in pre-pointe with Savage and has performed in musical theatre. Her competitive side fuels her as a dancer and she’ll likely be making you laugh for all the in between moments. Above was a bts moment of Carly jumping up and down trying to stay warm as we created in the golden hour!
The girls and their mom had vision for flowing fabric and leaping in a meadow. Fortunately we got them in just in time before the frost hit our wildflowers. These girls were tough, they just kept leaping and tossing fabric for each other, not mindful of the cold temps setting in.

What was the absolute sweetest was seeing them coach each other and call out the best in each pose. They corrected form to make stronger poses and congratulated each other when the pose was nailed. Then, at their view and choose to select their favorites, hearing their excitement for each other was priceless. What a sweet tender bond these two share. How awesome to have this fleeting time locked down to enjoy for generations!
