JDP senior Natalie

Years ago someone warned me that once your kids enter high school, the dial speeds up on time.  Parents begin feeling the end drawing nigh right about the end of the sophomore year, knowing high school is over half complete.  However, sometimes kids make a last minute decision to graduate early to get a start on their college career a bit early and then all the mental preparation mom and dad have been doing goes out the window.

That’s exactly what JDP senior Natalie decided to do just a few weeks ago.  High school’s not calling her to stay any longer than she needs to and she has plans to pursue a career as a pediatric brain surgeon, so the sooner she gets started on the long years ahead of her in school, the better.

This decision came as a shock to Natalie’s mom and dad.  All the sudden, the demands of the senior year were suddenly thrust upon them all in a flurry of activity.  If she was to be included in the yearbook, she needed a drape portrait asap.  Thankfully we were able to squeeze Natalie in!

Natalie’s about one of the sweetest and gentlest souls you’ll ever meet in this life.  She’s very active with her service in the community through Key Club where she holds a Lieutenant Governor role for her division.  She volunteers as NCAP food pantry as just one of her ways to help lighten the burdens other people carry in this life.  She’s also earned her Silver award in Girl Scouts, which is the equivalent to the Eagle Scout award in Boy Scouts.

Natalie played for me during her session and oh what a sweet sound she makes with her violin and ukulele which are like an extension of her.  Natalie, may you continue to make beautiful music with your life that touches all who are fortunate enough to do life with you.  Your heart is precious and your kindness makes this world a better place!  Good luck with Penn State and Happy Birthday!
