nursery kisses

How cool to be a part of watching a family grow through each phase of their lives!  You may remember a beautiful ballerina maternity session from a little over a year ago when C A P T U R E D was brand new.  Then a few weeks later came a newborn session with a precious little boy who smiled as he slept on a football.  Then came a little boy with electric blue eyes celebrating his 6 month old milestone.

The Hunsicker’s are one of C A P T U R E D’s biggest cheerleaders in the community so it is always a delight to photograph this beautiful family.  Nicole and I discussed a session that would be a little different from their previous sessions.  This session would be totally lifestyle in their home with very, very little posing.  Typically home sessions are done outside but winter doesn’t allow for that, so we took full advantage of life in the home.

These are the kinds of moments that every mother should have in photographs of their little boys!  I can’t tell you how many hours my boys have spent racing cars along windows, walls and floors….

This blog is also a departure from typical blogs because it is a demonstration of what an album design would look like.  As clients have been ordering more albums, I thought it would be a great opportunity to show an album design.

Brody is now 1 and what better way to end his month of celebratory activities then the intimacy of his own home with the 3 people (and one dog) who mean the most to him in this life.

Nicole’s a much loved elementary school teacher and to her boys’ delight she brings her love of drama and storytelling to their story time.  Hearing her read “10 Little Monkeys” animatedly to her boys brought back a flood of memories for me of time spent doing the exact same thing with my boys, complete with finger waving and all!

Adam spent time with little Brody in his room and Brody was all too happy to have Daddy all to himself!

This full family shot we still wanted to be natural, but Carson needed some convincing to join everyone on the sofa.   Mom offered “nursery kisses” aka hershey kisses to you and I.  Please don’t tell Carson—I love toddlers perception of words and how it affects meaning!

Those electric blues i mentioned!

A birthday party always trumps nap time, so Carson’s eyes were starting to look heavy at the end of our session.  He asked Dad to make him a bagel with butter.  About halfway through his snack, as Nicole and I were chatting, I noticed Carson had fallen asleep.  He was out cold but still half heartedly reaching for food.  Macy noticed right away and began sniffing around Carson’s hand to take advantage of the situation!  As her cold nose would brush up against Carson’s hand it would slightly rouse him.

Adam transplated Carson to the sofa beside his favorite Mater truck while Nicole and Brody made fish faces for each other.  Notice Nicole’s storyboard of maternity images on the far wall behind them?

Thank you for allowing us to follow your journey and celebrate little boys and the smiles they bring to our lives!
