Nick’s Mom and Dad told me that they weren’t really picture people…but their only son was graduating from high school and they wanted to mark this time. Nick was typical of most senior guys so he was less than enthusiastic about the whole idea…until we brainstormed together in a pre-consult ways to capture who he is in ways that interested him. I could see a spark of interest in him. Go underwater wearing skis? Hum…
I learned that Nick’s an avid skiier, swimmer and he really enjoys working out—so I said, ‘let’s build your session around what you love to do.’ This was a far cry from just standing in the woods he was expecting before he came. I get it guys, it’s hard to get excited about doing that!
Now Mom and Dad have this super cool gallery of their handsome son before he launches into the next phase of his life! What a cool kid…he smiles easily and I could see pretty quickly is a huge help to his mom and dad in life. Funny thing is Dad wasn’t so wild about the idea of portraits initially either, then became a convert half way into the session time.
Dad told me repeatedly during the portrait time, “I’m so glad we did this, really glad. I wasn’t on board at first, but I had no idea it could be like this!” Such a pleasure to partner with the Minio family to create this cool senior guy portrait gallery for Nick! Nick was officially the last senior in the pool for underwater portraits this season as well! We are in the process of launching a senior model program which will provide bonus shoot opportunities…so look for Nick’s possibly to be shot with some other JDP models at Ski Liberty this winter!
