JDP senior Nate

These JDP senior guys crack me up!  When they first come for their pre-consult, it’s often not on their own volition…I think they’ve often been bribed by a Momma who knows how quickly her time is coming to a close with the boy she’s called hers since birth.  By the end of our vision casting meeting their interest is sparked, with a healthy sense of skepticism….’will she really be able to create cool portraits of me doing what I love most in life.’  Nate fit this bill pretty perfectly!

Fast forward to the session and I find these guys are embracing the session full of laughter and a whole lot of mud, trusting me to do what I do, to create in meaningful ways for them.  At their View & Choose they are wide eyed with big grins, seeing themselves like they never have before.  Moms are grabbing the tissues, seeing 18 years flash before their eyes.  I have to work pretty hard to create like this for these boys, but the big grins and Momma tears at the end tell me I’ve done it for them and that’s pretty cool!

This session reflects a perfect balance of what Mom hoped to see and what Nate hoped to see in the portraits.  We reach that compromise in the pre-consult meeting.  We always start with studio time, to create classic portraits…I call this ‘handsome guy’ time.  Nate rocked this time and was happy to know he could include his guns.  Nate’s a fisherman, a hunter, and a football player.  He’s been the team captain for the Winters Mill High Falcons his junior and now senior year.

Nate leads a very active, physical life full of working out, sweat and toil!  He works hard at a farm all summer and holds a job while in school and leading the football team.  Who knows, maybe he could represent the Under Armour hunting line too!?

We ended our time with a pool jump and Nate’s love of football!  We have a special part two blog coming Sept. 9th–Nate’s first home game day! We will be highlighting Nate in his full uniform under the Winter’s Mill lights!
