I’ve had the pleasure of watching JDP senior Lauren grow from an adorable little girl with spunk and a twinkle in her eye into the beautiful young woman you see here, still full of spunk and quirky adorableness! She is a joy and will keep you laughing and guessing each step of the journey with her.
Lauren is an artist whose talents shine in several mediums. She is the lead vocalist in the band Painted Wings. I had the pleasure of watching her perform recently at an outdoor venue hosted by one of our former JDP seniors, Ashlee Aluise’s home. Lauren is also a huge fan of music and design…cue the albums with artwork. She is filling the role of a graphic designer for Painted Wings as well. Below are a few of her designs. This is likely the career path she will be pursuing this fall in college as well. The first portrait above features some of her art work on the 3 albums behind her head.
I adore that Lauren’s flare for statement making outfits and hair designs was front and center for a segment of her portrait time. As long as I’ve known Lauren she’s experimented with hair colors and styles, unafraid to take bold risks to find and define this cool sense of style she’s honed in on. I love it! 
As we shifted gears in Lauren’s styling I was struck by how I saw the emergence of a young Zooey Deschanel from New Girl, not just in appearance but some similar expressions and mannerisms! It’s easy for a young woman who has been a serious athlete her whole life to define herself in that role and not always see how beautiful the other sides of her are as well. That is one of my favorite things about creating for my athletes!

Watching Lauren transform from modern adorable and spunky to timeless gorgeousness is one of my favorite things about our JDP senior sessions. We are complex beings and viewing ourselves through multiple lenses is always a gratifying experience. 
When we stepped into more fine art timeless style creation and I began to see Phoebe Dynevor, the star of Bridgerton emerge before my eyes! 
And now we get to what most people know of Lauren, her fierce athleticism. She’s been playing soccer and softball since she was 5. Her sophomore year she made varsity for both teams at Winters Mill. She’s competitive and driven and it shows on the field. She is a valuable asset to every team she’s on.
She’s fierce but there’s a girlie side to her as well that emerges every once in a while! Which is why I was so glad to see the fun combinations she created from our studio wardrobe include several timeless looks.
Lauren admittedly has a hard time containing her frustrations on the field. She’s an all-in kind of player and loves it when her team plays with that intensity. She knows she’s not the best player on the field, but she’s learned a tremendous amount of technique from a lot of amazing coaches. She knows their advice can make the difference between wins and losses. In the midst of games, you’ll hear Lauren calling out reminders to her team like, “get on your toes, not your heels” across the field.
Lauren would like a chance to play ball in college. She’s begun having conversations with the softball coach at Susquehanna University. She, like all the 2021 Carroll County athletes, is participating in mini session seasons due to the strangle hold of Covid restrictions gradually loosening. She’s grateful to be able to play but saddened at how much of her senior year of sports has been lost.

Michael Jordan may be most famous for it, but I’m pretty sure every athlete and musician I have created for has their focused game play face that involves a tongue pushed to the side. I’ve wondered about this for a while and after a quick search found studies show that tongue posture can significantly impact postural stability and muscular strength.

Oh Lauren, this treasure trove marking down your beauty is dedicated to the girl who always makes me smile, loves on Ms. Macy Mae like she’s her own puppy and treats my boys like her own brothers!
