JDP senior Dillon loves his time on the fields. His dad’s coached him for much of his life and his mom’s been envisioning these exact days for her boy since before Manchester Valley High School was even built. Dillon’s parents moved to Hampstead when Man Val was in the plans and his mom watched the fields transform into the space she envisioned her son competing and making his best memories. Often our dreams take twists we did not predict, however, this one did not. Dillon did take to those fields that spread across former farm lands and has made amazing memories along the way, while being cheered on by his mom and dad.

Dillon plays football and lacrosse. He loves football the most and has played since he was 12 years old when he started as a Titan. He’s a defensive player corner and wide receiver for offense. Football has his heart for its awesome team camaraderie, its outlet for release of anger and all the supportive relationships that develop from locker room to fields. Dillon’s best friends have all come from his fellow football and lacrosse buddies. He credits his youth sports coaches with having imparted invaluable life lessons into him over the years that have helped to shape him into the young man he is today.
And let’s not forget the feeling on winning…Dillon says nothing beats that!
In lacrosse Dillon is a defensive player with a long pole. Lacrosse he credits with consuming more of his time over the years for the skill development that has to take place out of season. All the extra work he’s put in has certainly paid off as he now has offers from Lebanon Valley, Eastern University and Hood college to play lax. He will also be receiving academic scholarships from wherever he decides to attend.
I learned that Dillon is friends w/several of my other JDP seniors. He works for one of them who will be featured in the coming weeks, Gavin DeWees, doing landscaping jobs for Gavin’s business.

Dillon hopes to study criminal justice and I gotta say, he seems like the kind of young man who will defend those who need help and give of himself to make this world a better place. He’s the real deal.
Funny thing that happened during his session, when it was time for some smiles, I saw Dillon make a face that he’s probably made 1000 times in family pictures over the years. However, it didn’t really show me Dillon with joy in his face. I’m never above making a fool of myself to get the real thing and I’m so glad I did because Dillon’s real smile lights up the room!
Dillon I wish you all the best as you launch out and spread your wings to soar! Our country will be a stronger place because of your commitment to excellence and protecting what we cherish. Never lose that desire to protect and defend what you hold dear.
