JDP senior Keira

JDP senior Keira has a smile that quickly erupts in any given situation she’s placed.  She brings humor, wit and larger than life presence that is magnetic and has suited her so beautifully for her work in theatre.  She’s sure to keep you in stitches.

Keira’s mom is her biggest fan and was very excited for her to have this opportunity to create custom portraits.  Keira wasn’t so sure about the whole process at first, but we brought her around and now she has these treasures to warm the hearts of all who love her!;)

Books are Keira’s babies.  When Lightning Thief goes missing, forget about getting in contact with Keira until she’s found it!  She loves getting lost in a story, be it on stage or inside a book

Keira’s love of theatre started when she was 10 and was able to be a part of Fiddler on the Roof at South Carroll High’s production.  The welcoming family like environment of South Carroll’s drama department hooked her immediately.  The high schoolers welcomed her in as a 5th grader and she never looked back!  Keira attends Westminster High today and was hopeful to work tech for their production of Fiddler in spring 2020…but Covid canceled her attempt to come full circle with Fiddler.

Keira’s been in Shrek, Puss n Boots, Pocahontas, Once Upon a Leprechaun and Starmites.  While she shines on stage, she’s also jumped whole heartedly into stage crew.  Recently she realized about herself that she wasn’t as attached to being on stage as she thought she was.  Being a part of the tech crew offered her all the best parts of being a part of making a performance happen without all the bother–itchy costumes and stage makeup.   She’s looking forward to working with the underclassmen this year to help train them to replace herself back stage with like minded theatre loving thespians who will keep productions rolling.

And here’s that adorable smile that erupts so easily as we were creating in her fine art segment.;)

Keira just loves being a part of a production and is happy to do so in whatever role she’s needed, making her such an asset to all the productions she’s graced.  She has a stage presence about her that makes me hopeful to be able to catch one of her shows this year!

Being a part of productions is Keira’s favorite, but sitting back to take one in ranks right up there as well.  She  brought her favorite playbills and I imagine the memories that will flood back to her as she reviews this portrait years from now…

Keira laughs easily and embraces life with her arms spread wide.  She realizes how precious it is and how close she was to her life being cut short when she was just 4 years old.  She was in a car accident with her mom and big brother, who was 3 years older than her.  Devastatingly, her brother Geoffrey died in the car crash.  Today Keira has scars on her face from the accident, a daily reminder of her life that was spared.

Keira’s family collects Christmas balls each year to commemorate Geoffrey’s life.  They started this tradition the first year they had to face without him and it has continued every year.  She brought a collection of the ornaments to mark his life and we incorporated them into her portraits.

Keira has lived her life alongside her mom, on a mission to give back in gratitude for the life she’s been blessed with.  They both are active in helping to lead the youth group at Westminster United Methodist Church.  They also love going to concerts together–Christian, rock and jazz.  They’ve gone to Creation, a giant Christian music festival for 10 years in a row.  Keira says it’s her home away from home.

Keira goes on a mission trip annually while also attending Rock youth conference as well.  If you attend her church, you’ll see her helping with vacation Bible school and volunteering regularly with the 4th-5th graders.  She also helped regularly with cookouts for the homeless sponsored by her church.  This girl knows the joy that comes from serving.

While Keira knows the joy, as with everyone’s journey, especially during the Covid quarantine, she found herself struggling to find the light that has surrounded her throughout her life.  She was pulled into a darkness that felt swallowing.  Today she’s celebrating the emergence back to the light.  The darkness is the deceiver and tries to convince us that we are at home and meant to stay there.   But the power of God means the darkness has no hope if we will only turn to Him.  Keira may you always remember the Lord’s call on your life and continue to pour out the blessings He’s lavished on you.  You make this world a better place!
