I never knew that owning a custom portrait studio would mean my family grew by leaps and bounds over the years! I step right into the happiest moments of your life and lock down what makes you grin ear to ear and feel like I am cheering you on from behind the lens. Those moments are one way tickets back to how you felt, when celebration abounded. These moments become a lifeline when life’s challenges come crashing in. They are a compass, pointing you back to a space in time you know you can get back to, with even more depth, after you scale the mountains life inevitably places before you.

And that was a very philosophical start to former JDP senior Black and Emmy’s celebratory engagement portraits. Blake is literally the OG JDP senior, before we called them JDP! I created his senior portraits back in 2012 when my studio was just a few years old after I met his awesome mom Liz on the soccer fields. Liz loved what she saw I was creating and said, “I’m looking you up when it’s time!” I had no street cred with high school boys yet, but thankfully Blake did what was asked of him by a crazy photographer!

Blake and his adorable fiancee Emmy started dating back in highschool, in 2012 after meeting in gym class. Their romance continued despite separate colleges. Blake went off to study management at IUP. Today he enjoys his career as an electrician which he began in 2018.

Emmy studied speech pathology at Bloomsburg then went on to get her masters degree at Loyola in 2020. Today she is a speech pathologist at Cranberry Station where she loves helping children develop their speech abilities.

These two lovebirds bought a house last year and will have a destination wedding in Jamaica next year. It didn’t take them long to add a puppy in the mix and now the love of their life, Olive, brings them so much joy. Olive was more than happy to be a part of the portrait time!

Olive just turned 1 and had a puppy birthday party with her cousin and friends!

When Blake and Emily aren’t spending time with Olive, you are likely to find them playing disc golf and then hitting up a local brewery. Disc golf is how Blake proposed–he placed the message inside the frisbee!

These two could not have been more adorable together! Blake’s protective of his girl and looks at her with a sweetness that makes her radiant! Emmy smiles and laughs so easily through life, I’m sure making her a treasure to do life with! What a perfect combination to take into a marriage!
