JDP senior Madison lives to dance. In her pre-consult planning meeting, she shared, “Dance is my life. I leave school, go to dance and come home, go to sleep and do it all again.” And this sweet soul wouldn’t have it any other way.
Madison started at 7 years old in ballet and tap and was immediately more drawn to ballet. She confessed she wouldn’t remind her mom about her tap class, but was always vigilant about her ballet classes.
Madison began her dance journey at Merritt, then progressed to Carroll County Dance Center where she thrived for 7 years. She is currently in her first year at Mid Atlantic Center for Performing Arts looking to expand her dance training outside of ballet.
Every dancer is compelled into storytelling movement by different types of music. For Madison, she prefers no words so she can embrace the melody and the beat without distraction.
Madison is excited about this next phase of her dance training to be pushed more in her growth, to explore her own boundaries and to venture into new styles of training. If you name a dance style, she’s done it! Today she focuses on modern and contemporary which she hopes to continue pursuit in college.
Madison had qualified to audition for a host of her top choice college dance programs. She’s preparing herself for the auditions and eager to show these schools what she can do!
Madison is moved with joy that’s difficult to convey when she’s able to express feelings in story without the story having to be her own. Watching a story progress and unfurl its drama and import is one of her favorite things in life.
Every dancer and athlete lives in fear of the dreaded injuries that prevent them from performing. Last spring Madison sprained her knee at a dress rehearsal, two days before the big performance. One month later she was performing in a show, sans all the classes that would have led up to that performance.
Madison’s ultimate goal is to pursue a modern dance program in college with a focus on training to be a physical therapist who works with dancers.
This summer will be a departure for Madison’s typical 7 week dance intensives as she competes in a national dance competition in Orlando. Madison, your passion, your tender soul and your joy are contagious to be around! We wish you all the best in these upcoming auditions and pray you shine like the star that your people know you to be!
