Nigella

Meet the tiniest fur ball baby Nigella! She’s an almost 10 pound miniature golden doodle who is just 10 weeks old. She’s officially charged with the crime of stealing hearts everywhere she goes!

My oldest son Tad’s girlfriend, Freya, got her over Thanksgiving break. Nigella was a long awaited gift to herself to celebrate the approaching end to her computer engineering degree at Virginia Tech and locking down her first engineering job.

Tad and Freya were headed into finals after Thanksgiving and there were concerns about how they’d handle finals with Nigella’s brand new puppiness. So Nigella spent some time with my husband and I to give them the mental bandwidth to complete their rigorous studies with excellence.

And we fell in love with this little nugget…although I had to temper my love to keep our studio mascot Macy Mae in check. I spent some time creating portraits with her on our brand new shoot bay with these hand painted canvas backdrops I created over holiday. They could not have been a more perfect compliment for little Nigella!

Helping to train a puppy is an all hands on deck job. I always joke there’s a reason why God makes puppies and babies sooo adorable! But this precious little nugget did not take long at all to fit right into our family schedule. She helped us burn off our extra holiday calories with lots of extra walks through the day. Nigella is doing great and has taken on all her training like champ!

Nigella is an incredibly smart and sassy little thing who endears herself to everyone she meets. Macy Mae mostly just tolerated her with a pretty high level of patience. Remember that old Spike and Chester cartoon?? Well, that’s pretty much what their time together looked like!

Nigella was on Macy Mae’s heels almost constantly. She wanted to play so badly, but Macy Mae’s 70 pounds and Nigella’s 10 pounds was problematic. So mostly Macy Mae helped her to learn all things about being a dog. This little nugget has years ahead of her to bring sooo much joy to Freya and Tad!
