JDP senior Persia

JDP senior Persia is new to Franklin High as she moved to MD this year from Kansas. This would feel like the end of the world to most teens–that big of transition in their senior year! However, Persia is go with the flow through this life and has enjoyed her new east coast living.

Persia has found Franklin welcoming of her and people who fall outside of expected norms and that has made the transition a joy. She’s found the environment to be very accepting of diversity which has been a welcome change for her artistic soul.

Persia’s challenge with changing schools for her senior year has been graduation requirements. She is currently taking Spanish, French and English all year to catch up to Kansas vs MD differences.

Persia had been looking forward to her senior portrait experience ever since her sister’s which was quite involved back in Kansas. Initially Persia wanted to create in an arcade for part of her time, but then decided against it in lieu of more time on the more stylized setups we discussed.

Persia wanted a darker feeling to some of our creations, tapping into the dark side of some of her favorite Anime obsessions. Her all time favorite Anime is Madoka Magica.

Persia got intrigued by Anime when she was in kindergarten and her dad stepped out of the room and reminded her, “don’t watch Anime, it’s bad.” Well, her curiosity was peaked and that was the start of the obsession that stands to this day. In 4th grade the Sword Art Online really hooked her about a group of teens stuck in a game or they die.

Persia’s a gamer and a creator so why not include her switch for a segment. Just imagine one day in the future when she shows her own children this portrait. We will have long since sailed away from hand held devices…will it be all optical inserts then?? Who knows-but that’s why I love marking time with the things seniors currently love.

First and foremost, Persia is a creator. This artist works in a host of mediums. She creates watercolors, pencil, marker and pen sketches.

Our creator as a work of art herself!

Persia isn’t sure yet about her next steps; however, I would not be one bit surprised to hear her doing voice work for animation. She has a very distinct voice that rolls into animation quality with absolute ease!

Who knows where life will take Persia–she’s open to the adventure for sure! She shared, “who knows, I may just get me a knapsack and see where the wind takes me.” Well, it’s clear wherever that is, you have a home base in your mom that will be your soft spot to land at the end of your rainbows! She’s cheering you on every step of the way!
