JDP senior Liam

JDP senior Liam has been playing lacrosse since he was just 5 years old. He loves the game-every single thing about it! He fills the role midfield and attack for Franklin High. First game of this season and he scored 3 goals and had 2 assists against Manchester Valley!

Scoring is an exhilaration he just can’t get enough of. But he’s also pumped to watch his teammates score when they are all executing plays beautifully together as a team. Liam is a lefty and he’ll come from the back in his attack in ways his opponent never saw coming.

Liam prides himself in being a primary feeder of the ball to his teammates to help rack up the goals on the board. He’s consistently top in assists for his team. He especially likes it when the bench comes into the game and he can feed them the ball for a score.

Liam is one of those good guys who looks out for people in his life. He’s acutely aware of the need for strong mental health as an athlete. This led him to start a chapter of Morgan’s Message to help raise awareness of the mental tolls high performing athletes can often face.

If Liam’s not on the lacrosse fields, you’ll find this soccer enthusiast loudly cheering on his team. Really he loves to watch all sports and since his club lacrosse team has wrapped up, he’s appreciating having time for that now.

Liam’s dad and grandfather have passed on a love of fishing. They fish fresh and saltwater and especially love fishing in Florida. His favorite is fishing for snook (similar to bass). One time he fished for 12 hours just to catch 1! That’s dedication!

When the school day is done and practice is a wrap, he rushes out to grab just one hour of fishing time before it’s dark. Chatting with Liam, I had a line from Ashley McBryde ringing through my head. “He’d be the last one off if the ship went down. Kinda man it feels good to be around…And he could spin you a story like a wagon wheel. Never went nowhere without a rod and reel.”

Liam’s a gamer as well so of course we paid homage. Can’t you just imagine how this will look to his children one day…remember Pong from the 1970’s? I’m quite sure our modern day gaming will seem just as archaic 25 years from now!

Liam is a collector of watches (first segment of portraits). He’s fascinated by their mechanism and automatic movement. He filled me in on some of the history that fascinates him re quartz movement. Seiko started it, made it accessible pricing and everyone eventually copied it. Something tells me this is just the start of Liam’s watch collection!

Liam we wish you all the best in your studies and playing lacrosse at Bridgewater! They are fortunate to have you join their ranks!
