JDP senior Caitlyn

JDP senior Caitlyn had a dream going into high school–that was to be on the poms team and she’s living out that dream now! She’s been honing her skills in poms for 9 years and loves that she can constantly improve her technique with practice. Poms is done to a wide variety of dance styles and she’s game for them all!

Caitlyn was a rec cheerleader and when she turned 9 she was allowed to try out for poms and there was no looking back! It wasn’t long before her younger sister was following in her footsteps. There’s a possibility she’ll continue in college as well.

The memories Caitlyn has made in poms are priceless to her, especially competing in competition with her highschool team post Covid. Friday night lights presentations are also right up there with her favorite memories.

Caitlyn had the unique experience of having her session about a week prior to the colors of fall bursting to life on our property. She caught the very end of the wild flower meadows (and by very end, I mean the next day they were killed in the frost) and I called her back to see if she was interested to capture the vibrancy of fall. I can’t remember the last time fall was this vibrant!

Caitlyn is a crafter–if she’s not practicing her poms, then she’s likely knitting or crocheting something adorable! A family friend passed the skill onto her on their annual beach trip and she’s involved in several charities donating her creations to bring comfort to people in the hospital. She’s also considering a future Etsy shop to sell hats.

Caitlyn has a deep love of her family and is a self proclaimed home body. That’s where she’s happiest and creating. Her kind heartedness, easy laughter and patience makes her beloved by children. She intuitively understands how to get on their level to relate to them in ways that warm her heart as well.

Caitlyn’s love of children will likely result in a career teaching or interpreting ASL. What a blessing she’ll be with her spunky personality and her lay it all out there passionate approach to life!

We note often how every single session, for 14 years now, has some kind of first. Well, Caitlyn is very definitely the first JDP senior who wanted to feature her energetic love of WWE–World Wrestling Entertainment. She’s a massive fan of Rhonda Rowsy who was a UFC fighter and Olympic medal recipient. When Rhonda was done with boxing and joined WWE she brought an altruistic side to WWE with her work with Make a Wish. I can see why Caitlyn esteems this woman of strength and power!

Caitlyn also takes her studies very seriously and has her eyes cast to college very soon…and something tells me her mama is going to need some comforting when Caitlyn leaves.

Caitlyn loves building her own strength through crossfit. The strength she builds equips her to maintain the very physical dance routines for poms. She’s also very patirotic which she comes by via her family’s commitment to service. Her dad’s in the army, her aunt and uncle were in the Navy and her granddad was in the Air Force. It’s only on Army-Navy game days that you’ll hear a lot of fighting at Caitlyn’s house!

Family is sooo important to Caitlyn and she shares her senior year with JDP senior Emily–they are cousins!
